Introducing BRÚ Red Ale and Hop Bomb IPA

Throughout this week, we’ve been revealing two beers every day on our blog: one from our BRÚ Core range and one from our Urban Jungle series. Many of these beers are now available on shelves in off-licenses and shops across the country, but keep an eye on our social media for where you can find them (and remember to let us know where you spot our beers by tagging us in your posts!).

Today, we’re excited to showcase our BRÚ Red Ale (BRÚ Core) and Hop Bomb IPA (Urban Jungle).

Introducing BRÚ Red Ale:

A red ale for today’s drinker. With a biscuity malt backbone, notes of sweet caramel and a hint of pine from a dry hopping of Chinook, BRÚ Red Ale is a sophisticated and satisfying beer. Taking inspiration from Cú Chulainn, a Celtic figure famed for his unwavering strength, this red ale is a mighty example of the traditional Irish style. Exceptionally drinkable and using only the highest quality ingredients, BRÚ Red Ale is an instant modern classic.

Our Head Brewer, Francesco, provides some tasting notes:

Everyone knows, as an Irish brewery, the importance of having a tasty and easy-drinking Red Ale. So I decided to develop a recipe that is a modern interpretation of this classic style.

Taking inspiration from several traditional Irish Red Ales, along with the time-honoured brewing practises found in English cask bitter ales, the malt base is key to our BRÚ Red Ale. The sweetness we expect from the style are delivered by a complex blend of malts, but to avoid going overly-sweet and cloying, the addition of the piney and fruity Chinook US hop delivers the balanced modern take we were looking for.

ABV: 4.2%
Malts: Pale, Caramunich II, Arome, Biscuit, Chocolate
Hops: Chinook
ABV: 5.5%
Malts: Lager, Carapils
Hops: Always changing

Introducing Hop Bomb IPA:

An IPA packed with aromas and flavours from an ever-changing blend of hops, meaning that Hop Bomb is always evolving. No matter what the recipe, it will be generously dry-hopped to get the most intense aromas possible. A simple malt base ensures that the hops take centre-stage, right where they belong. Any bitterness is balanced with sweetness from the malts, coming together for a juicy beer that’s both explosive on the palate and hugely refreshing.

With an octopus on the can, we’re encouraging drinkers to dive into this beer with an open mind—we think you’ll get tangled up in this evolving IPA.

Our Head Brewer, Francesco describes what makes this beer unique:

As a brewer, I love to describe this product as a didactic Ipa: the malt base is even easier than the BRÚ Lager (90% Lager malt!), plus a touch of dextrin and some barley flakes. But the fun in this beer is that for every single batch, we choose a different blend of powerful hops and add them generously at the end of boiling, flameout, whirlpool and in dry hopping.

That means that every batch of Hop Bomb will be unique. Find the batch you`re getting on the label (1.0, 2.0, etc) and the hops used. Bellissimo!

And that’s the lot! We hope you’ve enjoyed these blog posts and will be following up on more information about our new, exciting beers soon.

You can now find BRÚ Red Ale on our online store alongside other core range beers. Hop Bomb will be released in the coming weeks.

We can’t wait to hear your feedback on our new ranges, so keep showing us your beers and sharing your thoughts on social media and Untapped.
