Throughout this week, we’ve been revealing two beers every day on our blog: one from our BRÚ Core range and one from our Urban Jungle series. Many of these beers are now available on shelves in off-licenses and shops across the country, but keep an eye on our social media for where you can find them (and remember to let us know where you spot our beers by tagging us in your posts!).
Today, we’re excited to showcase our BRÚ Pale Ale (BRÚ Core) and Atlantic Odyssey Red IPA (Urban Jungle).
Introducing BRÚ pale ale:
A modern pale ale bursting with aromas and flavours of Idaho 7 and El Dorado hops, BRÚ Pale Ale is a juicy beer with notes of tropical fruit, stone fruits and pear. Intense flavours are balanced with malts and a rounded mouthfeel from oats, resulting in a hoppy pale with a hint of bitterness. Taking inspiration from Boann, Irish goddess of the River Boyne celebrated as a free-spirited figure, this pale ale delivers unrestrained flavour.
Our Head Brewer, Francesco, provides more insight into this beer:
We decided to start from scratch with a brand new recipe for the Pale Ale. We were keen not to shy away from a bold and hoppy profile but also wanted a nice mouthfeel to add to its drinkability. So oats and wheat are included for a silky texture which adds greatly to the sessionable quality of this beer.
I’m a big fan of the piney quality in the Idaho 7 hop, having used it in previous one-off recipes, and was keen to pair it with the El Dorado hop for its tropical juiciness and mild bitterness. In this beer, knowing when to add the hops is crucial. To keep the flavours rich, yet not overpowering, we add lots of additions over time right through to dry-hopping. We’re happy with the finished result which showcases all the very best of these two fantastic hop varieties.

Malts: Pale, Maris Otter, Wheat, Oats, Carapils, Munich
Hops: Idaho 7, El Dorado

Malts: Lager, Pale, Arome, Light Crystal, Barley Flakes
Hops: Cascade, Centennial Simcoe
Introducing Atlantic Odyssey Red IPA:
Our Atlantic Odyssey Red IPA is a transatlantic affair, inspired by the American Amber and Red IPA styles. American Cascade, Centennial and Simcoe hops give floral and piney aromas and flavours, which are then softened by a biscuit, lightly malty backbone and a rounded mouthfeel. Mildly hoppy, but ultimately balanced on the palate with a refreshing finish. Our Red IPA is highly drinkable and satisfying, perfect for both hop lovers and red ale drinkers alike.
We’ve depicted a bear in a suit on the can as a nod to our American friends. If you’re motivated by a sense of curiosity, this beer promises to be a flavour odyssey for your palate.
This beer is currently in tank and it´s not available at the moment (but we thought we’d give you a little teaser!).
Our Head Brewer, Francesco, gives the origin story of this beer:
This was one of those beers born back in Carrig Brewing with a very unusual and interesting story behind it. I needed to brew something new, it was for a last minute project we were jumping into and I didn’t have much time to come up with a new recipe. So I literally looked at my available stock in the brewery and started mixing ingredients, malts and hops and… Atlantic Odyssey was born and brewed! It was originally an amber ale and it turned out to be a delicious product indeed!
Since I love to translate memories into beers, I adapted that very last minute recipe into a Red Ipa and there you go: our fresh Atlantic Odyssey.
Feeling thirsty yet? Remember to check back tomorrow for another reveal.
You can now find BRÚ Pale Ale on our online store alongside other core range beers. Atlantic Odyssey will be released soon. Get shopping here.
We can’t wait to hear your feedback on our new ranges, so keep showing us your beers and sharing your thoughts on social media and Untapped.
